Planning for the future of Table Tennis
As the custodian of the sport in England, the ETTA is in the initial stages of planning and writing a Whole Sport Plan to bid for Sport England resources within the 2009/13 funding cycle.
On a wider scale and a 2020 timeline the ETTA is considering devising an aspirational agenda with ambitions to transform the sport and thereby achieve the ETTA vision of ‘making table tennis the most popular and most successful indoor sport in England.’
To achieve Sport England funding for the next four years our submission must demonstrate a contribution to the strategic outcomes of ‘Grow, Sustain & Excel’ within the Sport England Strategy 2008/11 featured at www.sportengland.org.
National governing bodies will be at the heart of Sport England strategy delivery and will be commissioned to deliver the three key outcomes above.
There is an expectation from Sport England that to enable Table Tennis to contribute to their remit to
‘the creation of a world leading community sports system’ a focus on clubs, volunteers (coaches, officials, organizers), identifying and developing talent, school-club links and facilities should continue, however, it is the
intervention strategies where staff and membership input is welcomed.
