Tournament Format


For the first time the tournament is open to 40 players, instead of 24 as in previous years. Evolving from the Europe Junior Top 12 in which the top juniors fought it out for the title, to the Europe Youth Top 10, which will have both male and female Junior and Cadet categories of ten players.

Category classification is judged on the players age on 1st January 2008. Juniors must be under 18 and Cadets under 15.

Round Robin
The tournament will be played in what is known as a Round Robin format, where all players will play each other once, with those from the same association playing each other first. After all the matches have been played the results will be based on the best 7 games for the Juniors and the best 5 for the Cadets.

Win = 2
Loss (in a complete match) = 1
Loss (in an incomplete match) = 0
